Day 14 (4/8/21): Rocky Mountain High

This morning we woke up at the Boondockers in Evergreen, CO, got ready, and hit to road.

We were headed to Rocky Mountain National Park! It was a bit windy on the drive up, but we got there safely. It was an absolutely beautiful day!

We stopped in Estes Park to rent micro spikes and poles. Then, we got to Rocky Mountain National Park around noon and headed out for a hike. We started hiking out to Alberta Falls, but on the way out, someone coming back from the trail said that it wasn't running.

So instead, we turned around to find a different hike. We ended up doing hike out to three different lakes Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, and Dream Lake.
The views were absolutely stunning! We were surrounded by high peaks, blue skies, and pine trees.

We drove around the park for a bit on our way out. We saw elk, deer, rabbit, ducks, chickadees, wood peckers,  magpies, stellar jays, and prairie dogs.
After we left, we headed into town to grab some dinner. We stopped at local bar, only to be intervened by some elk who were also on their way to dinner.

Eventually, we ended up at a local Mexican restaurant to celebrate the trip because my mom will be flying home in a few days. Now, we are parked safely at our Boondockers host for the night.
