Day 11 (4/5/21): Utah to Colorado & Dinosaur NM

Today was another big driving day! We got on the road and got gas and coffee on our way out. We stopped at a coffee shop of the neighbors of the boondockers where we parked in Salt Lake City. It was a very cute local coffee shop.

We got on the road and saw some beautiful views and even antelope!

We decided to stop at Dinosaur National Monument as our lunch and halfway point stop. It was hot, I think around 81 my truck said! We ate lunch with a beautiful view.
Then headed to the Quarry where thousands of dinosaur bones were found. From 150 million years ago! It's essentially a rock wall filled with bones piled up that used to be a river. The dinosaurs died from a drought, then later, the bones were swept up from a flood causing this one area of a congregations of skeletons and bones. Several have been extracted and sent to museums. But over 1,500 bones still remain.
The park had beautiful views too. We didnt have time for a hike, but did a short walk to see the petroglyphs and pictographs. A petroglyph is a carving in a rock face and a pictograph uses colors and inks if some sort as a drawing.

From there, we continued on to Colorado! We drove past the Steamboat Springs resort to check it out. It was beautiful and sunny. Around 7pm we arrived at the KOA in Steamboat Springs. We settled in, cooked dinner, used the wifi, and had a shower. We decided to go to a campground for a shower, wifi, and due to an incoming storm. They were predicting two days of cold and snowy weather. Although the weather radar didn't show much of this. We wanted to be safe but didn't expect to wake up to anything.
